Scuba Challenge Launched

Disability Awareness Day (DAD), is Europe's largest 'not for profit' voluntary-led disability exhibition, and is held annually in a huge tented village within the grounds of Walton Hall Gardens. This year's show will be our 20th anniversary and it wil be held on Sunday 10th July

Organised by Warrington Disability Partnership, recent shows have attracted over 25,000 visitors on the day plus up to 5000 visitors taking part in the complimentary events held during the week prior to DAD. (Read the full story of DAD 2010 here.)

DAD has three main aims:

As well as fulfilling all these aims every year the show also gives everyone who comes a really good day out filled with interest, fun and entertainment!

This year's event was until recently under threat due to government cuts and the imminent closure of the North West Regional Development Agency. This was until the Dad team launched "going the Extra Mile" Scuba Challenge.
Led by Founder/DAD Co-ordinator Dave Thompson MBE DL and Graham Horton Dad Stewards Control Point Co-ordinator they completed a grueling 66 lengths (one mile) scuba dive at Forton Leisure Centre on Sunday the 20th February which has so far raised over ?8,500 towards the ?15,000 shortfall needed to run the event.
